History

The Volcano Mount Etna site on the east coast of the Island of Sicily in Italy is in between the cities of Messina and Catania.

According to popular traditions in 1889, during a visit to Italy the Queen Margherita of Savoy, wife of King Umberto, called upon a chef called Raffaele, to create a pizza resembling the colour of the Italian flag. Using red tomato, white mozzarella, and green basil, they named it after the Queen, Pizza Margherita. 

Etna is one of the most active volcanoes in the world creating fertile soil around the Volcano that provides farmers with fresh produce.
